Rise Against Hunger 2017
(formerly "Stop Hunger Now")
Cougars Care invites your entire family to participate in a RISE AGAINST HUNGER meal packaging event on Saturday, November 4th at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1545 Chain Bridge Rd., McLean, VA 22101.
This year's event is even more important because Rise Against Hunger is providing Hurricane relief in addition to keeping its global commitments. The goal again this year is 300,000 meals. To accomplish this goal, Rise Against Hunger McLean will need 1000+ volunteers over the course of 3 shifts and $87,000 to cover the cost of meal ingredients. Shift 1 from 8:00AM until 10:30AM really sets the tone for the day. Shift 2 from 11:00AM until 1:30PM is historically the most heavily enrolled and packages the greatest number of meals. Shift 3 from 2:00PM until 4:30PM finishes the meal packaging and assists with clean-up. To Register for the 2017 meal packaging event in McLean, go to http://events.stophungernow.org/McLean2017 . There are jobs for people ages 5 to 80. All kids must be accompanied by an adult. This is a great opportunity to show your children the importance of volunteering and to learn about global hunger and inspire our families to get more involved in fighting it! Last year the Haycock community sent 60 volunteers—let’s see if we can send even more this year! Wear your Haycock spirit wear (or a blue shirt) and join us for this amazing event! Hope to see you there! For more information, please contact Jackie Frazer at jfrazer@gmail.com Learn more about RISE AGAINST HUNGER by visiting their website at: http://www.riseagainsthunger.org/ |
