After School Activities - coordinates and promotes a variety of after school programs, which provide additional enrichment to Haycock students. Coordinators help organize, collect fees, and serve as liaison with outside vendors for specific classes. Requires a moderate level of involvement before and during 3 class sessions.
Art Appreciation – researches, designs and trains parent volunteers to lead quarterly art lessons in the classroom; plan and provide training, supplies, and lesson plans. No art talent required! Requires a moderate level of involvement during the school year.
Arm Chair Fundraiser – coordinate and publicize a direct-mail style fundraiser; send acknowledgements. Works with the VP of Fundraising and Treasurer. Requires a moderate level of involvement September through January.
Audit Committee – administers the annual audit, is responsible for filing audit reports to the state and local PTAs. This committee must have at least 3 members. Moderate involvement required during summer and fall.
Box Tops Committee – collects, counts, and submits box tops for cash reimbursement. Requires a modest, consistent level of involvement throughout the school year. Can be done from home
Bulletin Board Committee – responsible for updating the PTA bulletin board at least quarterly and when there are school-wide PTA events. Requires a modest, consistent level of involvement throughout the school year.
Clinic Assistants – provides support to clinic on days that the Haycock Clinic Aid is not there or needs additional help. Training provided.
Copy Committee – 0– help copy PTA flyers that are sent home in the Tuesday folder. Requires involvement on Thursday or Friday’s for a few hours about once every 5 weeks throughout the school year.
Cougars Care – coordinate and market to Haycock community the benefits of outreach opportunities that provide a variety of services to those in need, i.e., blood drives, food collection, clothing drives, collecting winter coats, toys for less fortunate families, etc.
* Cougar Woods – support Haycock’s outdoor learning program -- researching and designing science-oriented lessons and training parent classroom volunteers. Help plan and support outdoor learning areas. Requires a moderate level of work during the school year.
Cougar Woods Angels – Lead or help with weeding and mulching to keep our schoolyard green.
Cultural Arts – select, coordinate and market four cultural arts assemblies that bring a variety of arts to Haycock students such as authors, musicians, actors, and naturalists.
Directory – collect, input, and proof the contact information for the Haycock student and family directory. Requires a high level of activity from August through October. Some parts can be done from home!
Fall Festival – Help plan and implement an outdoor Fall Festival celebration with games, food, activities and more! Takes place on October 22. Subcommittee chairs and members needed.
FLEX/GLOBAL Language Programs – identify, select and coordinate teachers and students for before-school language arts programs including Spanish, French, Hindi and Chinese. County provides curriculum and support.
Fun Fair – help coordinate, market, and manage part of the Haycock Fun Fair – one of the largest fund-raisers for the school. Takes place on March 17. Subcommittee chairs and members needed. Requires a moderate level of involvement from January through March.
* Fundraising Committee – help coordinate, coordinates PTA fundraising efforts, soliciting and generating new fundraising ideas including merchant fundraising opportunities available through Amazon, Marketplace and Bonus cards, and any other fundraising activities deemed necessary by the PTA. Requires a moderate level of involvement throughout the school year depending on the variable fundraising needs of the PTA.
Grocery Bonus Cards & Certificates – help update grocery bonus card information to ensure Haycock receives “bonus card” points and funds. Requires a moderate level of involvement in September-October – can be done from home!
Hospitality – help plan and coordinate special events recognizing the teachers and staff, i.e. staff breakfasts, holiday activities and appreciation events.
International Night – a multi-cultural school-wide event showcasing the diversity of our community with food, performances, and crafts. Takes place on February 10. Subcommittee chairs and members needed. Requires a moderate level of involvement January-February.
Junior Achievement – help plan and coordinate professionally developed curriculum by JA. Help train and provide materials to parent classroom volunteers and track their progress. Requires moderate involvement in the fall and spring.
Library Volunteers – provides support to the Haycock Book Fair in October and volunteers to work in the Haycock Library weekly throughout the school year.
Merchandising – select, market, and distribute Haycock merchandise such as t-shirts, hats and magnets.
Publicity – identify and help publicize Haycock events to the community and media
Reflections – coordinate and promote artistic contest in many different mediums of works by Haycock students. This is a National PTA program. Requires a moderate period of activity in the fall.
6th Grade Party – plans and executes the end-of-year party for the 6th grade class. Requires a moderate to high level of involvement in May and June
Special Needs Liaison –to ensure that PTA events are inclusive and welcoming to all students; providing resources to parents who are new to the IEP process; educate other parents within the Haycock community about special education
Trek for Tech- help coordinate, market, and manage part of the Haycock 5K Run – a technology fund-raiser for the school. Takes place In May.
STAR Reading –supports classroom reading program that encourages and celebrates literature in the classroom and library. Collect gently-used books and purchase new books that teachers earn with “reading credits.” Requires a light to moderate level of involvement during the school year.
State and Local Affairs – read, attend meetings, and keep PTA informed of issues at state and local level.
Student Art fundraiser – help organize and coordinate this fall fundraising program which produces your child’s artwork on products such as clocks, mugs, etc. Requires involvement September through November.
Volunteer Coordinator – seeks out parent volunteers for PTA activities and creates a database that will be available to other PTA board members to identify volunteers for the PTA?s various activities. This committee is also charged with the task of exploring improved ways to reach all the members of the parent community to encourage their involvement in volunteer opportunities. Requires a high level of involvement at the beginning of the school year followed by a moderate level of work through the remainder of the year.
Volunteer Network – put your name down as a volunteer and you will receive requests to volunteer on an as-needed basis. This will be an email and telephone list of potential volunteers who will be contacted as the PTA needs help.
Yearbook Committee & Photographers –develops and produces the Haycock yearbook. Requires a moderate level of involvement in the fall followed by a high level of work from January to March. Photographers – help take pictures of our children at school events and activities.
Art Appreciation – Quarterly - lead art lessons and projects in your child?s classroom 4 times during the school year. Coordinate with classroom teacher. You will receive training, supplies, and lesson plans from the committee. No art talent required!
Cougar Woods Coordinator – Quarterly - organize, lead, and assist teachers with outdoor education and learning activities. Coordinate with classroom teacher. Training and lesson materials provided by the PTA Cougar Woods Committee
Junior Achievement - May & June – Using a professionally-developed curriculum by JA, present a series lessons to your class. Supplemented by parent volunteers’ own experiences, teach important age-appropriate economic concepts that will ultimately enhance their understanding of the world around them. Volunteers receive training and all materials to facilitate the program. Scheduling is done with the teachers and lessons are taught in May and June as a series of weekly lessons based on teacher and volunteer availability.
Strategy Lab – Monthly - facilitate Strategy Lab sessions for your classroom. No experience necessary -- training provided. Coordinate with classroom teacher. The Strategy Lab provides a hands-on learning environment that fosters creativity, persistence, and divergent thinking.
