Parents, you too can show your Cougar Pride with a Haycock Car Magnet.
Just print off and complete the Order Form on this webpage and send it to school via backpack mail. The envelope should read “Haycock Merchandise Order” and checks should be made payable to Haycock PTA. Orders will be returned to your child’s classroom or if the order is a gift, other arrangements for order pick-up will be made. Please indicate “GIFT” on the order form. Support Haycock Students As You Shop for Groceries: Register Your Grocery Cards Today…BEFORE All OF YOUR HOLIDAY GROCERY SHOPPING!
Did you know that in 2008-2009 McLean High School raised $9,867 via Giant’s A+ Bonus Bucks Grocery Card Program alone? Wouldn’t it be nice to see Haycock Elementary earn even half as much during the 2009-2010 school year?
Giant, Safeway, and Harris Teeter support education by contributing a percent of sales tied to registered grocery affinity cards back to local schools. CARDS MUST BE RE-REGISTERED EVERY SCHOOL YEAR TO RECEIVE CREDIT FOR YOUR PURCHASES. Parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors can register. Just follow the instructions under the Shop/Support tab above to register your cards for the 2009-2010 school year.
Are you too busy to deal with it, but want to help? The PTA will register your cards for you! Complete the form found in the sidebar of this Shop/Support section under the heading, “Grocery Bonus Cards Raise $$$ for Haycock,” and send it to school in and envelope marked PTA Bonus Card Form. Announcing A BOX TOPs for Education Contest
We know that the economy is tough these days. We’d like to give Haycock families the chance to “Do What You Can” to support Haycock, and the Box Tops program is a great way to do just that. The PTA’s dream is to be flooded with Box Tops!!! Haycock will receive $790.50 as a result of Box Tops sent to school last year, and we’d like to at least double those earnings this year!!!
“Hear Ye, Hear Ye… There Shall be a Contest Among Every Class in Haycockland”…..To inspire students to remember to clip Box Tops, the PTA has established a Box Tops Collection Contest during the 2009-2010 school year. We will be tracking Box Tops by class. The classroom with the most Box Tops by May 31, 2010, will win a fabulous feast at the end of the year. Look for the Box Tops Symbol on products that you use every day from General Mills, Betty Crocker, Huggies, Pillsbury, Avery, Scott, Kleenex, Ziplock, Hefty and many more! To participate, just clip, collect, and send your Box Tops to class in a baggie or envelope clearly marked with your classroom teacher’s name. There is also a Box Tops collection box in the cafeteria, and your child’s classroom will receive credit as long as baggies/envelopes are clearly labeled.

The Cougar of Haycock Woods CD
Calling The Cougar of Haycock Woods a children’s album is like calling The Lion King a kids’ movie: accurate, but hardly adequate. This first outing by the Northern Virginia-based Harley String Band is adventurous and eclectic, genre-hopping from bluegrass to pop and beyond, ever grounded by the acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, and bouzouki. There’s lots here that parents will enjoy.
Subtitled “Nature songs for kids, parents, and teachers,” The Cougar of Haycock Woods was originally inspired by the 50th anniversary of the Haycock Elementary. Find mp3s and more info at the Harley String Band web site, but come back here to buy as sales support Haycock.
