PTA ProgramsThe Affinities Festival is a school-wide celebration of learning. Students have the opportunity to share their affinities (i.e. their interests) and showcase their learning with our community of parents, teachers and students. Coordinate and promote a variety of after school programs, which provide additional academic, artistic, and physical enrichment to Haycock students. Classes vary by session but generally include sports, art, drama, chess, and science related classes. Lead art lessons and projects in your child’s classroom throughout the school year. You will receive training, supplies, and lesson plans from the committee. No art talent required. Support Haycock’s outdoor learning program:
Coordinate and market to Haycock community the benefits of outreach opportunities that provide a variety of services to those in need, i.e., blood drives, food collection, clothing drives, collecting winter coats, toys for less fortunate families, etc Select, coordinate and market four cultural arts programs that bring a variety of arts to Haycock students including authors, musicians, actors, and naturalists. Identify, select and coordinate teachers and students for language arts programs including Spanish, French, German and Italian. County provides curriculum and support The Fun Fair is one of the PTA’s largest events of the year. It is a wonderful family event that provides fun for the whole family. The fair is a mini-carnival with games, prizes, food, moon-bounces, raffles, and surprises for all. This is one event where all areas of the school are used from the cafeteria and pod to the classrooms. Such a large event requires team effort on the part of parents, teachers and PTA volunteers. This is an event your kids won't want to miss! This 5K will contribute to Haycock’s wellness scorecard in a positive way. Haycock students can participate and show their support for a lifetime of health and fitness. All students, along with their families and friends, are invited to this fun costume party held at the school. Play games, win prizes, dance in the pod, enjoy crafts, and see a magic show in the gym. Lead a professionally developed curriculum by JA, supplemented by your own experiences from the professional world to educate students on important economic concepts that will ultimately enhance their understanding of the world around them. Coordinate and promote artistic contest in many different mediums of works by Haycock students. This is a National PTA program Reading program that encourages and celebrates literature in the classroom and library Strategy Lab is a hands-on learning environment that fosters creativity, persistence, and divergent thinking. Last year, students built structures with Kapla blocks, created words with UpWords, solved puzzles with Safari Rush Hour, and pitted their wits against each other with games like SET, Gobblet, and Mancala. Parents facilitate Strategy Lab sessions, coordinate volunteers, and organize games and fundraisers. |
