READ IN DAY IS FRIDAY MARCH 30TH
For March READ IN Day, we welcome children’s author Candace Fleming. We are having a pre-sale of Candace Fleming books for interested parents. Candace Fleming is author of many well-known biographies, picture books, historical fiction as well as short novels. All proceeds from the sale go to the Haycock PTA Author Fund. Please complete the presale form to order. Book orders are due by Monday, March 5th.

SIXTH GRADE PARTY PLANNING HAS BEGUN
Wasn’t it just yesterday we were dropping them off at Kindergarten. Preparations are underway for the end of year party for the Sixth Grade class of 2012!!! The party is scheduled for Monday, June 18th. We could use your help to plan an amazing event for our graduating sixth grade class. DR. SEUSS’ BIRTHDAY AND READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY ARE COMING
Haycock Elementary is planning a week of special days!!! We hope that students will have fun participating in the celebration. Print out Dr. Suess Flyer to learn more about this wonderful week long celebration.

- Tuesday, February 28th (Red and White Day) – wear Red and White
- Wednesday, February 29th (Grinch Green Day) – wear Green
- Thursday, March 1st (Fox in Socks Day) - roll up your pants and show off your cool socks!
- Friday, March 2nd (Sneak up on Reading Day) – wear your favorite sneakers and read all day long!

LiterARTure DELIGHT IS SEEKING LAYOUT STAFF
Attention parents of 5th and 6th graders: Your students are invited to apply to be part of the LiterARTure Delight Layout Staff. This is Haycock’s own literary and art magazine which will be published in June. Students who are part of the layout staff collaborate with students on McLean High School’s yearbook staff both at Haycock and one half-day at McLean High School. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn more about publications and utilize their artistic and computer skills in service to the school. Please encourage your students to apply! To apply print out this LiterARTure Delight Application complete it and submit it by March 7th.

HEAR YE, HEAR YE… THERE SHALL BE A CONTEST AMONG EVERY CLASS IN HAYCOCKLAND
The race is on…which classroom will collect the most Box Tops and win the prize??? To participate, just clip, collect and send your Box Tops to class in a baggie or envelope clearly marked with your classroom teacher’s name. There is also a Box Tops collection box in the cafeteria, and your child’s classroom will receive credit as long as baggies/envelopes are clearly labeled.

PTA SUGGESTION BOX
Your suggestions and inventiveness make Haycock PTA a success. If you have ideas about how the Haycock PTA could make our school an even better place to be please complete a suggestion card and place in the PTA Suggestion Box in the Front Office.
Every event that the PTA does, every action that it takes, is the result of someone making the suggestion: “Why doesn’t the PTA do ...” Our school is blessed with many individuals who give generously of their time. Your suggestions on how to strengthen our community are always greatly appreciated.
