Star ReadingSTAR Reading Program PTA’s STAR Reading Program is a program designed to build teachers’ classroom libraries while encouraging students’ independent reading. New or gently used books are collected by volunteer members of the STAR Reading committee. Once monthly, the STAR Reading cart, filled with these books, is taken to classrooms throughout the school. Classes whose students have read independently 20 minutes daily, choose books from the cart to place in their teacher’s classroom library. Students and teachers look forward to the arrival of the STAR Reading cart each month! Volunteers for the program are needed in a variety of ways; from recommending, reviewing, and/or purchasing titles for the program; to organizing and distributing books to classrooms throughout the school.
