Cougars Care
Haycock PTA Cougars Care Committee
The philosophy of the Cougars Care Committee is to help students learn that each of us has the responsibility and privilege to help others. Our students realize that each one of them is able to make another’s life better. Our families are able to reach out to others in the surrounding local communities in need with donations of needed items and their time.
In previous years, the Haycock community has supported the pediatric units of local hospitals, local nursing homes and elder day care centers, as well as many local charities in need of donated goods and clothing.
Cougars Care Here and There
Our theme of “Cougars Care Here and There,” is implemented by aiding children in need on a Local, State, National, and International level. Here is our proposed schedule for the year:
September: Planning month
October: Fall Festival: Collect used Halloween costumes for donation and hand out Unicef boxes
November/December: “Give Thanks by SHAREing With Others” grade-wide campaign. Haycock will adopt several families for the holidays, and each grade will work together to collect the items (possibly using a potluck-style sign up website). We will work with the SCA reps and/or room parents to coordinate requesting and collecting items.
January: Donate lost and found items
February: Collection for an International charity (possibly Southern Sudan) the week of International Night
March: Fun Fair: food/toiletry collection
April: Planning month
May: School supply donation. We will work with the PTA Innisbrook rep to set up donations of school supplies to a needy school.
June: Donate lost and found items
