My name is Tatiana Vaz and I am the Executive Director from McLean High School for
the McLean Langley Relay for Life Event. Relay for Life is the signature fundraising event of the American Cancer Society. It is the largest funder of cancer research and support for cancer patients and their families. Groups of students and community members form teams of 10-15 participants that work together to fundraise and raise awareness for the American Cancer Society throughout the year. On the day of the event, teams come together for 12 hours to celebrate survivors, remember those touched by cancer, and fight back against the disease through meaningful ceremonies and fun activities. It’s an extraordinary way to give back to my community and it’s something that I am incredibly proud to be a part of.
Although Langley and McLean are arch rivals in sports and academics, together we have
been working to create a fun and meaningful night. This is our fifth year organizing our own event and we would like to continue the success of our past events. Last year we raised $124,000 and this year our goal is to raise $151,475. We are also the 9th largest Relay for Life event in the South Atlantic Division (including colleges)!
I personally participate in this event for my Aunt in California who is not only a Breast
Cancer Survivor, but is currently fighting against Colon Cancer. Being halfway across the country from her is hard to bear, especially while she is fighting for her life. However, participating in this event helps her know that even though I am over two-thousand miles away, I will always be there for her.
If you would like to support our fight against cancer, please kindly visit our website:

Click on the Donate button! Please note that everyone is
welcome to the event, more details are on the website. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Thank you! Together, we WILL finish the fight!
